All food products with are vegetarian are clearly marked with a green dot and non vegetarian products with a red dot. I thought it was only limited to items purchased in store but look at the menu below from a pizza shop.
It has all the pizzas marked as vegetarian or non vegetarian, note that the chocolate brownie dessert has egg in it and thus it is non vegetarian too (click on the picture for a larger size)
Oh what a relief.

ha, this is so cool. I didn't know about this. I think they need to incorporate this even here. That would be such a relief. When my parents were here visiting, we had such a problem figuring out food.
Congrats on your luggage, how was immigration though? hope all your stuff came in intact.
Yes it is awesome, even if I order a perfect vegetarian meal I was never sure if it is was really vegetarian.
Luggage came good, I had nothing which immigration would have bothered me about so no problems there.
There have been several incidents in which Pizza's were interchanged, as they are afterall handlede by humans only, so best stratergy to follow is to go only those restaurents which are pure Veg and there are in plantey in B'lore, hope you understand the point and try to spread the word too.
anonymous I agree with your comment, the best strategy is to eat at veg only restaurants.
But after staying in US for 5 years and having to find non-veg items in each and everything, its such a relief that at least a system is there which is made for vegetarians (human errors are everywhere so we need to be cautious)
